2018 BCOM NOMINATION UPDATE –

NOMINATIONS HAVE CLOSED

(A BULLETIN WILL BE PROVIDED IN THE NEAR FUTURE OUTLINING THOSE POSITIONS THAT ARE ELECTED UNOPPOSED)

THANK YOU TO FORMER BCOM MEMBERS TONY TRIMBLE AND KEN BROWN

The Branch Committee of Management would like to thank Ken Brown (Junior Vice President) and Tony Trimble (MFESB Officer Representative), who have elected not to nominate for another term.

Members are respectfully requested to give consideration to the fact that both Tony and Ken have given a significant amount of time to the betterment and welfare of their colleagues in both MFB and CFA.  Both have done our Union proud and have been great ambassadors for not only the Union movement but for fire service unions both nationally and internationally.

BCOM positions other than the position of Secretary are voluntary positions, however the time commitment and sacrifices both on their days off and indeed during their work time are enormous.  Both Tony and Ken first commenced their service to the Union membership in 2003 and have been instrumental in securing your current conditions of employment and indeed improving both conditions and wages.

It may not be apparent but in serving the membership as a BCOM rep, the responsibility in ensuring that the trust invested in elected officials is one that is well placed. By the results of our proud Union, we can reflect upon both Tony and Ken’s service to the Union and confidently say that that trust was well placed.

On a personal note, as Secretary of the Union, I can only reaffirm the unanimous sentiment of the Members Representative Team’s current and past members and that is, we were not only very lucky to have such dedicated people such as Ken and Tony but fortunate to be able to utilise their fire service expertise and knowledge.

Essential attributes in being a Union Representative and becoming an elected Union Representative is one of commitment, trust, loyalty and dedication to the collective to achieve the aspirations that are held by the membership.  Not only are both Ken and Tony highly respected professional Firefighters/Officers, they are also extremely decent human beings who care about others.

We encourage members to take the time to reflect upon the sacrifices made by both Tony and Ken in particular time away from family, late night meetings, telephone conferences, industrial relations hearings, sub committees, to name a few.

If you feel that it’s appropriate, we would like you to consider expressing your gratitude via a text or email to these two outstanding individuals. Both Tony and Ken’s contact details are well known however if you require the details, please contact UFU Office on 9419 8811.

In closing, we wish them the best in their future endeavours as professional Fire Officers in the fire service and again, we say thank you in the most sincere and meaningful way.
