INVITATION TO PRIVATE SCREENING OF A FILM DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF 19 FIREFIGHTERS WHO PERISHED IN THE LINE OF DUTY IN PRESCOTT, ARIZONA
The UFU is proud to invite members and their families and friends to a free and exclusive viewing of the new firefighter movie ONLY THE BRAVE.
The screening is a timely reminder of the dangers faced by firefighters and also that at times the ultimate sacrifice is paid by firefighters in serving and protecting our communities.
The UFU will be raising funds on the day, all of which will be donated to the International Association of Firefighters’ Disaster Relief Fund, a fund which provides immediate assistance to help displaced IAFF firefighter members and their families living in disaster areas while these firefighters continue to serve their communities. Members who wish to make a personal donation may also do so: IAFF Disaster Relief Fund – 1750 New York Ave NW, Suite 300, Washington, DC 20006.
The UFU has also written to the MFB and CFA, extending an invitation to both employers to be included in the event and also in the hope that they will assist the UFU in promoting this worthy event.
ONLY THE BRAVE is a film based on the elite crew of firefighters (known as the ‘Granite Mountain hotshots’) who battled the Yarnell Hill Fire, a wildfire in Prescott, Arizona, in 2013. This devastating fire claimed the lives of 19 of the 20 crew members.
This powerful film depicts the hope, the determination and the sacrifice of the elite firefighters to put their lives on the line to save the lives and property of the community that they serve.
The movie trailer can be found at this link.
