The UFU has been asked to assist in the Salvation Army’s upcoming “Walk the Walk – For the Homeless” awareness campaign.

The Salvation Army is coordinating a Walk to Walk campaign which involves a group of people walking from Melbourne to Canberra over approximately 40 days.  This campaign encompasses the Melbourne-Canberra trek, fundraising, creating a petition of signatures and lobbying politicians, with the ultimate goal of recognising the issue of homelessness in Australia.

The UFU has contacted both the MFB and CFA Chief Fire Officers and respectfully requested that if they could provide support for this event.  We are pleased to report to members that both Chief Officer Warrington and Acting Chief Fire Officer Bruce have indicated their support for this worthy cause in which the UFU appreciates this assistance.

The UFU is seeking assistance from members to walk the first 1km of the journey in solidarity with supporters of the cause.
