A sea of 342 red fire helmets covered the steps of Parliament today to symbolise the number of firefighters that the Napthine Government has failed to recruit.
UFU will rally to hold the Napthine Government accountable for their actions and highlighting the issues that are important to Professional Firefighters.
The Union yesterday wrote to ESTA and requested a further bargaining meeting in order to continue negotiations in regards the outstanding matters between the parties.
As Napthine Government Politicians prepare to head off to the beach for their summer holidays, it is timely to remind them that Professional Firefighters will be working hard to keep Victoria safe this fire season.
This afternoon the ballot for the agreement reached between the UFU and MFB has been counted and members have accepted the agreement by a convincing margin.
Three unions have written to the Minister for Emergency Services and Police Kim Wells to intervene and bring ESTA back to the bargaining table to seek final resolution of this ongoing dispute.
The UFU is calling on all its members to support ESTA employee’s campaign for fair terms and conditions of employment.
The UFU would like to thank all members who attended the special general members meetings on Wednesday 20 November. It was uplifting to see over 700 Operational members from both the MFB and CFA at the Victorian Trades Hall.
There has been a number of requests for information regarding voting on the Log of Claims at tomorrow’s meetings. Members are informed that tomorrow’s meeting will consist of extensive presentations on both the MFB and CFA claims for new Operational Staff Agreements.
