MFB President’s attempt to manipulate facts about signing the Deed that will protect your conditions of employment
In either a desperate attempt to manipulate the facts, or an act of incompetency, MFB President Jasmine Doak is claiming she is not aware of any situation where a Deed was signed prior to the approval of an Enterprise Agreement.
In a response to staff questioning the Board’s decision not to sign a Deed, Ms Doak has claimed she is “not aware of a situation where a deed has been signed prior to or without an enterprise agreement being approved”.
The facts are that the Deeds are signed at the same time the UFU and MFB sign the Enterprise Agreement. That is the point of the Deed – a safety net to protect the terms and conditions of the agreement in another jurisdiction if not protected in the Fair Work Commission. Months ago, the UFU provided the MFB with evidence of the MFB and UFU signing the Deeds on the same day the enterprise agreement is signed, which is custom and practice. The signing of the Deed and agreement is before the enterprise agreement is even submitted to the Fair Work Commission for Approval.
Ms Doak owes an apology to the MFB workforce as her response can only be seen as deliberately misleading given the MFB was provided the evidence of the contemporaneous signing of the Deed and Agreement.
Alternatively, Ms Doak should now sign the Deed as she incompetently made her decision without knowing the facts.
