To ALL MFB MEMBERS

BBQ AT THE COMMISSION

SUPPORT YOUR UFU WITNESSES

GIVING EVIDENCE TO PROTECT

YOUR CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Today in the Fair Work Commission the UFU witnesses start to give evidence clearly opposing the MFB’s applications to terminate the MFB UFU Operational Staff and ACFO 2010 Agreements.

The last of the MFB witnesses supporting the MFB’s attempt to wipe out the firefighters’ agreements – Michael Werle and Greg Pearson – will be heard today before the first of the 74 UFU witnesses are called.

COME AND SUPPORT YOUR UFU WITNESSES WHO

ARE DEFENDING YOUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

There is a BBQ from 8:45am tomorrow, Wednesday 16 July

outside the Fair Work Commission (11 Exhibition Street)

providing breakfast for people coming for the 8th day of the Hearing.

UFU members are urged to continue that strong presence every day to support the UFU witnesses who have come forward to preserve the Operational Staff and ACFO Agreements.

Firefighter presence demonstrates to the Commission your opposition to having your enterprise agreements wiped out.  The Commission must take into account the views of those employees affected – so you presence is vital to clearly inform the Commission that firefighters overwhelming reject the MFB’s applications.

UFU members have packed out two court rooms over the past 6 days in the Commission hearing firsthand the MFB’s excuses for wanting to use the Commission to wipe out the agreements. Due to the numbers a second court room has set up with a video link to the proceedings being held.

We appreciate the support demonstrated to date and look forward to maintaining that strong presence throughout the 20-days of hearing in support of the UFU witnesses giving evidence.

The hearing starts at 10am every week day at the Fair Work Commission (11 Exhibition Street) and members are reminded to contact Dan via 0419 127 045 or org2@ufuvic.asn.au to register attendance and whether available for either a morning (10am-1pm)  or an afternoon (1pm-5) shift on any of the remaining days – see the full list of hearing dates below.
