CFA MFB SECONDMENT PROGRAM

As members would be aware, in October 2011, a joint initiative was implemented to facilitate a secondment program for operational personnel within the CFA and MFB.

The secondment program consisted of 6 MFB firefighting personnel being seconded to various locations within the CFA for a 12 month period and 6 CFA firefighting personnel being seconded to various locations within the MFB.

A review of the program was conducted on completion and it was considered to be a glowing success.

Under the Andrews Government policy, one of the initiatives was to reinstate the secondment program of which members are informed of the following:

  1. Yesterday a significant meeting was held at the UFU office. In attendance was the Emergency Management Commissioner, senior personnel from CFA and MFB as well as UFU representatives from both CFA and MFB. The meeting was also facilitated with the assistance of one of the UFU’s Industrial Officers and the Branch Secretary.

  1. The meeting decided on a timetable for resolutions of outstanding matters that needed to be resolved to enable implementation inclusive of review of the training syllabus, agency specific requirements, and matters identified from the review that was conducted after the initial program.

The parties have agreed to reconvene over the next two weeks to facilitate resolution of these matters with an endeavour to be in a position to advertise for expressions of interest by the week of 16 March 2015.

Information to members will be forthcoming in the near future however details are currently being negotiated and resolved. If you have any inquiries outside these parameters, please contact Peter Marshall.
