CFA 2014 STAFF CULTURE SURVEY:

UFU CURRENTLY SEEKING FURTHER INFORMATION

Members are advised that the “CFA Staff Culture Survey” is not currently endorsed or supported by the UFU, as we currently have serious concerns about the structure of the survey and what it will be used for.

The UFU is currently seeking further information from the CFA regarding the survey and the questions and will provide further updates when that information is available.

The CFA have confirmed this is a voluntary survey and therefore no one has to participate.

The UFU does not believe it will be in your short or long term interest to participate in the survey with the information currently provided.

The UFU was nothing but astounded at the cost of the 2012 “Culture Survey”, being in the vicinity of $180,000.00 out of a total tender cost of $220,000.00 – please note that this figure did not include the extra and significant costs of internal CFA resources.

Given the fact that CFA brigades across the State of Victoria are under resourced both in terms of professional/career firefighters and appliances/equipment, the expenditure was yet another example of what the UFU see as the mismanagement of public funds.  

In addition, if the CFA genuinely wanted to know how its employees viewed the organisation they could do that through a consultation process and not use a costly survey to circumvent genuine consultation.

Members will be provided further updates when further information is provided.
