Bulletin No: 259 Volume: 20 Friday 21 November 2014
To ALL UFU MEMBERS
DON’T BE SUCKED INTO LIBERAL PARTY TAUNTS.
Firstly, let me express how proud we are in the way that Members have conducted themselves as polling booths and other community activities informing the community of the Napthine Government Budget Cuts to the fire service and treatment of firefighters.
Our members have been professional, dignified and reflective of the high regard which the community holds firefighters in.
We are reliably informed by a number of members that there has been concerted efforts by Liberal Party members and/or officials attempting to taunt firefighters to gain a reaction by referring to firefighters as “clowns”, “ALP Stooges”, “you should be at work”, “does your boss know you are here” etc
Under no circumstances should members be sucked into Liberal Party agenda of trying to create confrontation for self-serving reasons. Additionally the UFU has already written to the Victorian Electoral Commission in relation to one incident and will continue to do so with this unacceptable behaviour by Liberal Party members and candidates.
If you have any concerns or are approached in the context of the above please contact Peter Marshall immediately on 0419 127 004.
