ESTA BARGAINING AND DISPUTES UPDATE

On Friday 20 February 2015 the UFU, along with AEA and CEPU met with ESTA management for our second bargaining meeting.

Unfortunately, at this meeting, ESTA management were not in a position to present their log of claims which is awaiting Government approval.

Despite this, in order to avoid delay, the Unions presented our log to ESTA management.

We did seek to continue bargaining with ESTA and sought responses from management in regards to the Union claims. Unfortunately, ESTA management have advised that they are not able to respond to anything at this point in time as they do not yet have direction from Government in regards to even discussing the Union claim.

We have requested that ESTA management clarify their position ASAP with Government and we hope that bargaining will progress at the next meeting.

In the meantime, members are advised that the dispute regarding workplace trainers is continuing with the parties working towards resolving the matter.

The UFU is maintaining our position the operational training must be delivered and developed by people with operational qualifications and experience. We will continue to consult with ESTA to ensure that any changes to the operational training department is one that best suits the needs of operational employees.

Further, the UFU has also notified a dispute a yesterday in relation to ESTA’s failure to consult regarding their proposal to appoint fire team leaders to short term roles. We are seeking a dispute meeting with ESTA in regards to this.

Members will be updated in relation to bargaining and these disputes as they progress.

If members have any queries in the meantime please contact Rini Krouskos at the UFU office on 9419 8811
