Federation Square International Women’s Day event to celebrate women in Victoria’s emergency services
- Tomorrow Friday 8 March, for International Women’s Day, the UFU encourages members to attend Federation Square between 9am – 3pm to support UFU members and the wider Victorian emergency services.
- The theme for 2019 IWD is ‘more powerful together’ – a fitting theme for our state’s emergency services and the combined efforts of women and men in creating change.
- All fire service personnel are highly trained and skilled individuals and the UFU is proud of all personnel – operational and non-operational – in the fire service. Tomorrow’s events will demonstrate that a career in the fire service is a career choice for all.
- In addition to info stalls, promo videos and historical exhibitions, some key events lead by the fire services on the day include: firefighter story-time for pre-schoolers to promote the profession as a great career choice for everyone (11am – 12pm), a rescue demonstration led by USAR specialists and a CPR demonstration led by MFB and AV as would occur at an EMR job!
