Bulletin No: 194 | 14 November 2018
TO: ALL UFU MEMBERS
IMPORTANT ADVICE TO MEMBERS DURING CURRENT STATE ELECTION POLLING PERIOD
The UFU is under no illusion that there will be ongoing political motivations in the lead up to the state election to provoke responses from Professional Firefighters in an effort to progress the negative campaign against them.
Members are reminded that they may face such provocation when in the community and at or around locations where political campaigning is occurring, from those who are using fire services to progress a political agenda in their electorates.
We respectfully remind you that those attempting to engage Professional Firefighters in any political commentary are only seeking to further their personal agenda and want nothing more than to damage your standing in the eyes of the community.
Please remember your integrity is not diminished by what these people think and reasoning with them is likely futile.
In addition we also remind you of our previous request not to engage with those media outlets who would also seek to demonise you and your work. Knowing that certain media outlets have recently indicated an intent to use the fire services for political purposes we advise members to avoid any engagement with these media outlets via talkback radio, social media or other platforms.
