IMPORTANT CONFERENCE ON LATEST GLOBAL UPDATES ON PRESUMPTIVE LEGISLATION (occupational cancer in firefighting) & POST TRAUMATIC STRESS INJURY
The Victorian Branch Committee of Management is pleased to announce a UFU conference on the latest global updates on presumptive legislation and PTSI.
The UFU Branch Committee has secured the services of world leaders in relation to the advocacy and implementation of presumptive legislation including PTSI in the fire services.
The guest speakers at this one-day conference are President Captain in the Winnipeg Fire Department and Canadian Trustee of the IAFF Alex Forrest (a world-renowned expert) and Edmonton Fire Rescue Services Fire Chief Ken Block (a distinguished and eminent Fire Chief).
As members would be aware, both Alex and Ken played an instrumental and valuable role in securing presumptive legislation for professional firefighters in Australia, in particular with the provision of their knowledge in the 2011 Australian Senate Inquiry.
It should be noted that Australia is the only country outside of North America that has been able to secure this form of legislative protection for members.
The conference will provide information to UFU members on the latest developments abroad including the most recent, contemporary studies that underpin the necessity for presumptive legislation, the addition of new occupational cancers, and the ground-breaking inclusion of PTSI in presumptive legislation in Canada.
This forum will be interactive and in the form of a Q&A-style seminar.
