LES TWENTYMAN FOUNDATION
2017 CHRISTMAS DRIVE
As members may recall, following the fire and destruction of countless important resources and gifts for the Les Twentyman Foundation’s Annual Christmas Party at Little Saigon Market, Footscray in 2016, UFU members stepped up and contributed to a Christmas Drive bringing in over 1000 gifts and a Firefighters Charity Fund cheque for the amount of $14,500.
The UFU is proud to announce that it will participate in the Foundation’s 2017 Christmas Drive. The UFU strongly encourages members to support this great cause.
The gifts will be distributed to teenagers at the Foundation’s Annual Christmas Party. These gifts are often the only gifts that the teenagers receive at Christmas.
How can members participate?
Following a conference call with all shop stewards and deputy shop stewards last Friday, the UFU is calling on delegates and members to contact Laura Campanaro at org1@ufuvic.asn.au or on 0401 050 441 by COB tomorrow (Tuesday 28 November) to indicate who will be the coordinating delegate/member for each station/location.
What gifts to donate?
Members are encouraged to donate any presents suitable for teenagers, aged 12 and up. Popular wish list items include:
- Sports caps and sports socks
- Sporting equipment in particular basketballs, footballs and soccer balls
- “JoJo Bows” and “Tamagotchis”
- Lynx Deodorant packs and perfume packs
- Board games (suitable for teens or families)
- Art and school supplies
All presents should arrive wrapped and labelled with an age range (if applicable) and whether it is for a boy, girl or suited to either.
The Foundation kindly asks that members do not donate second-hand goods.
ALL GIFTS MUST BE BROUGHT TO THE SPECIFIED LOCATIONS (TBC) BY WEDNESDAY 20 DECEMBER.
