LIBERAL PARTY CAMPAIGNING ON CFA EBA ISSUE
Members of the Liberal Party and the VFBV are attempting to sabotage your EBA and have organised for liberal party staffers and candidates to hand out “Hands off the CFA” campaign material to the public to create community opposition against your EBA at early voting centres in key electorates.
The information contained in the material is untrue and is designed to polarise opposition to your enterprise agreement from volunteers and other community groups.
Clearly this is being used as a federal election issue to assist in the campaign to re-elect a Liberal National Government who have proposed an amendment to the fair work act to include volunteers having a say in your conditions of employment.
The material says that Labor wants to hand the CFA over to Union Bosses and that Bill Shorten has done nothing to oppose this.
This new development comes in the wake of Malcolm Turnbulls concerning statements at a VFBV rally which suggest a re-elected Coalition government would retrospectively change the Fair Work Act to block the CFA EBA on the grounds that it effects volunteers.
Members may also be aware that in recent weeks the Liberal party run “Hands off the CFA “ campaign has been emailing voters and asking for donations to fund the Liberal/National Party re-election campaign.
Whilst work has been done to communicate the fact that the EBA will not impact on volunteer firefighters and the word is getting out, the Liberal party and the VFBV is attempting to steamroll over this information with their campaign at early voting centres.
UFU members located in or near the electorates of McEwen, La Trobe, Corangamite, Dunkley, Jagajaga, Ballarat, Bruce, Chisholm or Deakin can help us neutralise this campaign of misinformation by handing out counter information sheets designed to inform the public of the facts at early voting centres over the coming weeks.
Please contact Dan on 0419127045 if you are available to assist.
