Bulletin No: 146 Volume: 20 Tuesday 1 July 2014
To ALL UFU MFB OPERATIONAL MEMBERS
TO MFB REPLY STATEMENTS
Yesterday the MFB filed 10 witness statements in reply to the UFU evidence and included the undertakings which are in the form of new agreements to support its applications to terminate the entire MFB UFU Operational Staff Agreement 2010 as well as the entire MFB UFU Assistant Chief Fire Officer Agreement 2010.
As members have been previously notified, the UFU filed 55 witness statements and a wealth of evidence opposing the MFB applications.
Yesterday the MFB filed its evidence in reply to the UFU evidence.
These statements are available on the UFU website for members to consider. Members can access the statements by obtaining the username and password from their shop steward.
The MFB reply witness statements are from:
- John Jugum,
- Darren Davies,
- Darren McQuade,
- Greg Pearson,
- Adam Dalrymple,
- Andrew O’Connell,
- Andrew Zammit,
- Janette Pearce,
- Michael Werle,
- Margaret Wilson.
- Peter Rau (filed today)
The MFB was supposed to file these witness statements on Friday but were granted an extension of time until Monday 5pm.
However the MFB have failed to fully comply with that extension of time as they did not file and serve Peter Rau and Paul Stacchino’s reply witness statements yesterday. We are still yet to receive Paul Stacchino’s.
In determining whether to terminate the entire Agreements, the Commission must take into consideration the views of the employees covered by the Agreement.
Therefore it is important to ensure that Members have access to all of the MFB evidence and witness statements including the reply statements and the undertaking to understand the claims being made in support of the MFB applications.
If the MFB is successful in their applications, the Agreements will no longer apply at all – the Commission can only terminate the Agreements in their entirety.
If there are any queries or comments regarding these statements, please contact the UFU office on 9419 8811.
