TO ALL CFA & MFB OPERATIONAL STAFF MEMBERS

MFB BARGAINING UPDATE

Further to our recent bulletin members are aware that the UFU Branch Committee of Management has been pursuing a number of pre election state government commitments and state government budget commitments. These matters have been reported previously to members.

One such commitment relates to your employers bargaining in good faith for replacement enterprise agreements. Members are aware that the Union is engaged in a schedule of enterprise bargaining meetings which has recently recommenced with the MFB and CFA.

Today a number of BCOM representatives and industrial personnel met with the MFB and the independent facilitator for a full day of negotiations. In addition, to ensure the best outcomes including the removal of inconsistencies of conditions for MFB and CFA employees at MFB bargaining meetings one CFA UFU representative is attending and at the CFA one MFB representative is attending.

Today was the second MFB bargaining meeting under the renewed bargaining schedule. Whilst it is early days the UFU can report that the bargaining environment and bargaining position of the MFB have changed considerably.

Today comprehensive discussions took place regarding staffing and MFB work practices which were very positive.

A further full day of negotiations with CFA is scheduled for this coming Thursday.

Further reports and details will be provided as the bargaining continues including a more fulsome briefing at the upcoming members meetings on the 23rd of June.

Today’s meeting has underscored the success of what has been a long and difficult campaign over many years and has demonstrated members solidarity and resolve in the face of adversity. It shows that we are well on the road to achieving a successful outcome in line with the strategic direction determined and implemented by delegates and the wider membership.
