UFUA SUPPORT TO OUR IAFF COLLEAGUES ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE 9/11 TERRORIST ATTACKS
On this day, the United Firefighters Union of Australia pauses to reflect upon and honour the 343 IAFF members and professional firefighters from the New York City Fire Department who perished in the line of duty on 11 September 2001.
The UFUA acknowledges the ongoing health issues suffered by many surviving responders 19 years on, and we also honour those FDNY firefighters and IAFF members who have since passed as a result of injury or illness from their service on that day.
The United Firefighters Union of Australia today wrote to the International Association of Fire Fighters on behalf of all UFUA members to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11 2001.
In memory of the 343 firefighters who perished in the line of duty on September 11 2001, and the many firefighters who have since passed as a result of injury or illness from their service on that day, all UFUA members are respectfully asked to observe a minute’s silence at their station or workplace today.
