UFUA SUPPORTS STUDENT ACTION- BIG SCHOOL WALK OUT FOR CLIMATE ACTION.

The United Firefighters Union of Australia congratulates and supports students participating across the country on the Big School Walk Out for Climate Action today.

It is refreshing to see student activism alive and well and young people across the country taking such significant action to protect their interests in planet they are inheriting.

Students across Australia today will be walking out of school in protest against current government inaction on climate change. The protest will be taking place in 30 locations Australia wide and 250 international locations.

As we all know, climate change is a significant issue facing firefighters in the Australian context where extreme fires and other emergency events including floods and storm surges are increasing in both frequency and extremity.

Firefighters see firsthand the impacts of climate and there are no sceptics at the end of a fire hose.

We stand in solidarity with these students standing up and taking action today and into the future.
