NEW EMERGENCY SERVICES

MINISTER JANE GARRETT

APPOINTED

ALSO UFU SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING

AND END OF YEAR BBQ CALLED

Members are advised that Victoria’s new Premier Daniel Andrews and his ministry has been sworn in at Government House today. Relevant for UFU members MP Jane Garrett has been appointed as the new Emergency Services Minister.

Minister Garret was elected as the State Member for Brunswick in November 2010 and prior to Saturdays election held the position of Shadow Cabinet Secretary. The UFU looks forward to firefighters working constructively with the new Minister.

Hopefully this point in time will be marked as a significant turning point following the last 4 years of attacks on firefighters from the former Minister Wells and the Napthine Government.

Members are also advised that a Special General Meeting will be held on 19 December 2014 at 10am and 7pm. The meeting is scheduled to be held at the Victorian Trades Hall Council. At the meeting further reflection on the last 4 years culminating in the recent campaign will take place and a detailed outlook will be provided as to the current and future environment facing the UFU.

Following the morning meeting, the annual end of year BBQ for members will also take place at the UFU office. All members are encouraged to attend both the special general meeting and end of year BBQ.

Further information as to the meeting and BBQ will be provided shortly and for catering purposes members are requested to RSVP ASAP to org2@ufuvic.asn.au regarding their attendance.
