OPERATIONAL STAFF BARGAINING UPDATES

PROTECTED ACTION COMMITTEE FORMED

Further to last week’s update The UFU met with the MFB yesterday and the CFA today.

Similar to the UFU’s last update bargaining with the MFB made some progress although the Union is still concerned as to the speed in that forum and the responses of the MFB to some of the Unions significant claims.

The status of CFA operational staff bargaining is more worrying. The CFA have generally rejected almost all of the Unions new claims. However in addition the CFA appear to be maintaining generally the same regressive bargaining claim that they have pursued over the last two years.

As previously advised protected industrial action is under consideration in relation to CFA bargaining and also MFB bargaining for operational staff agreements and will be discussed at the upcoming members meeting on the 23rd of June.

In relation to this separate CFA protected action and MFB protected action subcommittees have been formed to consider potential protect action ballots. Members are asked to provide your suggestions on potential protected action to org2@ufuvic.asn.au and your suggestions will be tabled with the protected action committees.

Members are requested to provide their suggestions by close of Business on Tuesday the 16th of June.
