To ALL UFU MEMBERS

CFA & MFB OPERATIONAL STAFF

ENTERPRISE BARGAINING

Members are advised that a further hearing took place this morning in relation to the CFA Operational Staff Enterprise Agreement negotiations. At today’s hearing, the Commission determined that the Commissions previous determination with respect to further meetings between the parties would be varied such that a meeting would take place between the parties on 26 May in place of 8 April.

The Commission left it open to the parties to meet in the interim but did not maintain that the parties must meet.

Presently the CFA have continued to avoid actual bargaining in the room and instead proceeded down a path of costly litigation.

Similarly the MFB are refusing to continue to meet and have also made an application to have members current enterprise agreements terminated. The MFB current actions are a bit like bargaining in reverse, whereby they refuse to negotiate for an improved agreement, and at the same time they use costly litigation (with public money) to undo the last agreements bargaining!

Some members have sought details of the hearing for the MFB termination application. The initial directions hearing is currently scheduled for 2pm Tuesday 8 April at 11 Exhibition Street at the Fair Work Commission. However it is possible that the hearing date may change at short notice, in which case the UFU will notify members via text.

For both sets of bargaining, the UFU is also in a process of recasting a number of claims in order to progress bargaining.

If you have any queries please contact the UFU office on 9419 8811.
