Bulletin No: 069 Volume: 20 Wednesday 26 March 2014
To ALL UFU MEMBERS
CFA & MFB
As members are aware an interim order was issued by the Fair Work Commission in respect to bargaining between the CFA and the UFU. The matter was adjourned to today for further hearing.
However at late notice prior to today’s hearing the CFA applied for an extension of the interim order on fresh grounds that the UFU were not complying with the good faith bargaining provisions of the Fair Work Act.
The UFU response at the Commission was succinctly put that the UFU since the issuing of the interim order had continued to bargain in good faith.
Deputy President Smith was satisfied that the UFU CFA bargaining was progressing and was reluctant to be intrusive into the bargaining process. The Deputy President relisted the matter for further hearing on 28 April.
Members are advised that the parties will return to the bargaining table on 8 April 2014.
In short the CFA application for further orders was rejected by the Commission.
In relation to MFB bargaining, the UFU is in a process of recasting a number of claims in order to progress bargaining. Whilst this process is underway the UFU has sought to continue to meet with the MFB, however at present they are refusing to meet.
