To ALL UFU MFB MEMBERS

THANK YOU ROD EGGLESTONE FOR SERVICES TO PEER SUPPORT

To all UFU members.

We often do not thank those who go beyond the call of duty to ensure that the welfare of our members, and those within the MFB, is serviced at the highest level at any given time, being night or day.

We have been informed that SO Rod Egglestone, who has been the Peer Support coordinator for 4 years, is returning to shift and as such will not be performing the role of Peer Coordinator in the near future.

On behalf of the UFU membership, and indeed I have no doubt any member of the MFB who has sought assistance from peer support, we extend our sincere appreciate and gratitude to Rod for his professionalism, caring and empathetic manner in which he has assisted those in their time of need.

From a personal point of view, there has not been one occasion where I as the Secretary or indeed the Branch Committee of Management have contacted Rod to look after the welfare of a member where Rod has not responded to such request immediately and implemented the necessary support mechanisms that were required for the member concerned.

It is clear that Rod sought no personal gain from this service other than the satisfaction in the knowledge that he was helping his colleagues during their time of need. Further, he performed this task with the utmost professionalism and in stating the above we know that his humble nature would be somewhat embarrassed by these sentiments but indeed we feel that we owe Rod a high level of gratitude for the work that he has performed in Peer Support.

We wish him the best in his endeavors on his return to firefighting and we welcome his replacement of which we are hopeful the same positive relationship can be established with the one goal that is providing the highest level of service to those in need

In closing, on behalf of the Branch Committee of Management, thank you Rod for a job well done.

It should be noted that the Branch Committee of Management representative Danny Ward, who has been allocated the role to liaise with the Peer Coordinator from the UFU, also wishes it to be recorded his appreciation for the services and assistance that Rod has provided to members.
