FIRE RESCUE VICTORIA UPDATE

Message to UFU members from your Branch Committee of Management

There has been concern expressed by members regarding a lack of information disseminated by the UFU in relation to Fire Rescue Victoria.

It is understandable that some members may be anxious regarding these matters however we respectfully ask for your patience, as the sheer volume of work undertaken and so far concluded has required enormous resources to do justice to the issues that may affect UFU members.

In an attempt to ensure members are brought up to speed, the UFU has scheduled 3 Special General Members Meetings on three different (day) shifts to ensure that as many members as possible will be able to attend.  If childcare is an issue for you, please notify the UFU Office ASAP on 9419 8811.

Additionally, we are in the process of developing Webinar sessions.  This is a process of trial and error, as evidenced by the technical difficulties we experienced last week.

In the meantime, please make use of the UFU Intranet which is available to all UFU members.  You may submit your question on the Forum and the Branch Secretary will personally endeavor to provide an answer on that matter in a timely manner, irrespective of the fact that he is currently on leave.

In closing, we thank you for your patience. Fire Rescue Victoria has been a long time in the making. We are extremely cognisant of getting this right.

Your BCOM and Industrial Staff are working many hours with consultants, government officials, senior fire service personnel and legal counsel to ensure the interests of UFU members are protected.

If ever in doubt, please reflect on the fact that, historically, we have never lost a condition of employment.  Rather, we have only advanced conditions of employment and safe system of work.  There are objectives to maintain that high level of standard of representation during the process of working through the implementation of FRV with the employers and government.

For any queries, you are welcome to contact the Branch Secretary directly on 0419 127 004 or via email.
