UPDATE ON SO AND SSO RELATIVITIES AND SENIOR RANK ALIGNMENT DISPUTE
As per previous information to members, the SO & SSO relativities and Senior Rank Alignment dispute a series of conferences has been conducted between MFB, CFA and UFU before both Commissioner Wilson and Commissioner Harper Greenwell regarding the senior operational rank alignment process and relativities for senior ranks including both SO and SSO.
As part of these conciliation conferences, and in order to inform the process for senior rank alignment, last year the UFU engaged Shea Consulting, a professional consultant group, to undertake a desktop analysis of the senior ranks in the MFB and CFA including ACFOs, Commanders, Operations Officers and Operations Managers.
This analysis has compared qualifications, competencies, job descriptions and also undertaken a task analysis. The consultants have also engaged directly with the ACFO, Commander, OO and OM working party established by the UFU in developing their reports.
Such report has now been provided in final draft form to both MFB and CFA under the auspices of FWC and MFB and CFA have responded with further queries.
The UFU intends to use the information as contained within the report to build an evidence base case for senior rank alignment across these senior ranks.
Once the parties have agreed on a framework for the rank alignment process the spread of new relativities across those ranks along with SSO’s and SOs will be established under the same dispute and under the auspices of FWC.
Throughout this process the UFU will continue to engage the relevant working parties and other members as necessary to ensure this matter is progressed on an evidence base gathered directly from the members.
Further updates regarding this matter will be provided as the matter progresses. In the meantime, should members have any queries please contact UFU Industrial Officer Rini Krouskos via email on email@example.com
