THE UFU STANDS IN SOLIDARITY WITH ALL WOMEN ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

The UFU respectfully wishes women UFU members, and the women in the wider UFU membership’s lives, a happy International Women’s Day.

The UFU is proud to fight for and support a number of initiatives that have been implemented to continue to ensure that the fire service is an inclusive one.

As many members are aware, women have been working in the fire services for over 3 decades – 35 years in the Communications Centre and 30 years as operational Firefighters. Although this is a fact that is not commonly understood or reported on, the UFU knows the vital significance of women in this industry. We are proud that an increasing number of talented women in Australia are choosing firefighting as their career path and the UFU will continue to stand with women and support initiatives to increase both women and diversity in the fire service.

For members who are not on shift, there is an International Women’s Day Rally today 5:30pm-7:30pm beginning at the State Library (attendees to meet on lawn near QV).  Members attending are encouraged to wear UFU apparel and bring UFU rally flags. Please call UFU Office on 9419 8811 to arrange for flag pick up.  For further details, members can visit www.unionwomen.org.au/iwdrally2018.

For any further enquiries, please contact the UFU Office on 9419 8811.
