Special notice to UFU members:
Support UFU Industrial Officer Georgie Kimmel
“A DAY FOR GEORGIE”
In this bulletin: Links to event flyer, event ticket pre-purchase, and GoFundMe campaign
This is a special notice to all UFU members from UFU Staff with the support of BCOM.
Georgie Kimmel joined the UFU as an Industrial Officer in 2017 and worked with members across the UFU membership during her time with us. Georgie was recently diagnosed with inoperable cancer and is no longer able to work.
Georgie is well known in the union movement; she has spent over three decades of her life working for unions and Trades Hall Council supporting union members and progressing campaigns and issues that matter to workers. Now Georgie needs our support.
Last week, we launched our GOFUNDME campaign page for Georgie. We would appreciate members and comrades from the wider trade union movement donating to and also sharing this link as widely as possible. No amount is too large or too small!
Please use the following link to donate:
We are also holding a family-friendly fundraiser event for Georgie to celebrate her contribution to the UFU and the wider trade union movement and to ensure that her time can be spent focusing on things other than her finances.
Please go to the following link to download the flyer. We encourage members to share this flyer widely!
We would like to encourage our members to get behind this important initiative to support a true unionist, by coming along to the event or assisting with the fundraising auction.
Date: Saturday 28 April
Time: From 2pm
Where: Geelong Trades Hall, 127 Myers St, Geelong
Tickets $20 for adults. Kids FREE.
This is a family-friendly event and members are encouraged to bring along their children. Gourmet carvery lunch, drinks, activities for all ages and auction on the day!
