CFA CHAIR, CEO AND BOARD CONFIRM THEIR REFUSAL TO SECURE CONDITIONS FOR OPERATIONAL STAFF VIA
COMMON LAW DEED
- CFA today confirmed its refusal to enter into a Common Law Deed to secure the conditions of employment contained in the CFA / UFU Operational Staff Agreement 2016. The UFU will discuss these matters further at the SGM tonight and the Delegates Conference tomorrow.
- In a regressive and provocative move, the CFA asserts there was no agreement reached between the UFU and the CFA in respect to your conditions of employment contained in the 2016 Enterprise Agreement.
- At the same time as refusing your security of conditions, CFA confirms it has entered into an Agreement / Deed with the VFBV which secures their funding and also enables the continuation of their publication.
- UFU has corresponded with the CFA today after receiving confirmation of the resolution by the Board to include nothing more than wages in a Common Law Deed – see link to read the full UFU response: https://jmp.sh/rKLb2b1
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?
In short, this means that the CFA Board, under the stewardship of the Chair, has resolved to abandon CFA operational firefighters by not enshrining their conditions of employment in a Common Law Deed as has previously occurred.
The hypocrisy of this decision is breathtaking given that the CFA Chair and Board have just entered into a Deed/Contract to reinstate funding to the VFBV, including increases to their funding by approximately $2-4 million.
Clearly, CFA Board are quite happy for CFA employees not to have any protection and certainty in their workplace leading up to what is predicted to be a protracted and demanding fire season.
