SPECIAL GENERAL MEMBERS MEETING SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY – VFBV GIVEN CFA UNDERTAKING DELAYING EBA VOTE
Members are advised that the VFBV have been given an undertaking by the CFA which will delay members from voting on the Proposed CFA Operational Staffing Agreement at a hearing in the Supreme Court today.
A members meeting will be scheduled for Tuesday the 23rd of August to fully brief members on the ramifications of this development.
The Members Meetings will be held at:
Victoria Trades Hall
54 Victoria Street, Carlton
Tuesday 23 August 2016
9.30am and 7.30pm
The undertaking will delay voting on the EBA whilst the matter is referred to the Supreme Court. It is not yet known how long this delay will be.
The UFU had members in attendance at today’s hearing who have expressed concern that the CFAs opposing case against the VFBV lacked detail and was not very forceful. More will be said about that at the foreshadowed special general members meeting.
In the meantime the UFU is meeting with its legal team to discuss future strategies.
Members should not be disheartened by this news as, like most battles that we have been in previously, we will ultimately prevail in the end.
Telephone hook-ups of delegates have been convened and further information will be provided to members in the coming days.
As always children are welcome at the above mentioned meetings. There will be free childcare available with registered childminding professionals. Those members that wish to use this service should notify the UFU by no later than Monday 22nd August the number of children and their age(s).
