WEST FOOTSCRAY FACTORY FIRE DEBRIEF
- The UFU thanks all members who were involved in the response efforts at the West Footscray factory fire last week.
- UFU members who attended or came anywhere near the fire in any capacity should lodge an MFB Safe ASAP and if they haven’t already done so.
- UFU members are also invited to contact the Union Office to discuss safety equipment used or any other issues regarding the incident.
We thank all professional career firefighters who responded to the factory fire in West Footscray that started last Thursday for their professionalism and competency. We acknowledge that through the hard work and expertise of professional career firefighters on the fireground, the fire was able to be contained to the one factory.
As the nature of the chemicals within the factory is still not fully known, members may have been exposed to unknown risks. Due to the toxicity of the fire, all members who attended or came anywhere near the fire in any capacity should lodge an MFB Safe incident report as soon as possible.
Any members who responded are also invited to contact the UFU at any time to discuss safety equipment used or any other issues that we should follow up, as your union, with regard to this incident.
