Request for Assistance from Off Duty Members to Assist Aged Care Provider

The UFU has received a call requesting assistance from Jewish Care Victoria to in their efforts to ensure that the safety of their vulnerable residents during the current Pandemic.

Volunteers would be providing practical support (wiping down benches, general household duties) to Elder Support Workers to ensure that infection control protocols are implemented.

Assistance is needed due to the extra workload which has been experienced as a result of following these new procedures which has added significantly to the permanent staff’s workload.

The request for assistance does not include providing personal care to residents.

This is a tremendously difficult time for many Victorians, including our members, however if you do have the capacity to provide assistance on your days off, and it is safe to do so with regard to your family circumstances, we respectfully request that you do so.

As emergency service workers, due to our training, we are especially well placed to assist these vulnerable members of the community in their time of need.

Please note that those assisting are required to have a 2020 Flu Vaccination.

Those who would like to assist are encouraged to email Hayley Bacher or Laura Marchase at volunteers@jewishcare.org.au or call on 8517 5734, who can provide further details.

If you have any questions or queries about this initiative please email Henry Dow at io2@ufuvic.asn.au or call on 0417 839 549.
