ACTU EMERGENCY SERVICES SUMMIT IN CANBERRA

WEDNESDAY 5TH FEBRUARY 2020

Members and Delegates

The UFU requests Members and Delegates to participate and attend this important event being the ACTU Emergency Services Summit in Canberra on the 5th of February 2020.

The Summit will include a closed meeting to hear from affiliates involved in frontline responses to the bushfire crisis and discuss what we need to be doing to coordinate policy and activities at a national level.

It is important that operational firefighters/UFU members have input into this process not only as professional firefighters but as proud union members.

Additionally, the Summit will involve an open forum to address representatives of the Government, ALP and crossbench on what union members have been doing to confront the crisis and what is required of the Federal Government.

A large UFU attendance is highly important and we respectfully request members and delegates to nominate if able to attend. The UFU will be organising a bus to leave on 4th February and will be returning on the 5th of February at the conclusion of the Summit.

The Summit will be held on Wednesday, 5 February 2020, from 9.30am to 1pm, at Parliament House, Canberra.

Our congregation will be leaving Melbourne on the 4th February (staying overnight in Canberra on the 4th) and returning late in the evening on the 5th once the Summit has concluded.

Further details will be made available in relation to accommodation and the location in which our bus will leave from and return.

On previous occasions where we have attended an important event in Canberra, we have been able to progressively pick up members from fire stations on route i.e. this facilitates parking. We are currently in discussion with MFB and CFA regarding this.

Buses and accommodation will be booked for all members and delegates in attendance, further information will be provided early next week.

A large UFU attendance is of high importance, we respectfully request delegates and members to attend this event.
