To ALL MFB MEMBERS

CHIEF FIRE OFFICER PETER RAU

LEOPARDS DON’T CHANGE

THEIR SPOTS

MFB Chief Fire Officer Peter Rau has made much about his so-called testimony to the Fiskville inquiry this week – the content of which the UFU takes significant issue with.

That matter will be further addressed at a later time, but in the interim members should disregard Mr Rau’s email and statement.

Most importantly, the UFU has yet to respond to Mr Rau’s belated and newfound sincerity towards his concern of MFB firefighters and Officers

I have watched with interest how Mr Rau and others have transformed themselves/remodelled themselves by implying that you are part of their team.

I have attached Mr Rau’s statement from the MFB Termination Case, where he was a main witness for the MFB, seeking to unilaterally remove every condition of employment that you current enjoy.

Please click here for Mr Rau’s statement from the Termination Case.

Mr Rau and his colleagues failed in that attempt.

Be under no illusion!  If they had succeeded, you would not be enjoying core conditions and entitlements including minimum staffing, safe systems of work, classifications, consultation, overtime and other rights – the very things that give you certainty to provide for your families.

Mr Rau may now describe himself as a team player but it is only 12 months ago he was on the opposing team seeking to destroy everything that has been collectively built up over the last couple of decades.

No one forced Mr Rau to give the evidence that he did.  He willingly took part in an orchestrated legal attack on your conditions which was ultimately rejected by Fair Work Commission.

It is my personal belief that I do not think he is fit to be a Chief Fire Officer.

I believe in Santa Claus but I do not believe in any shape or form that Mr Rau, or his executive leadership team, have changed from what they were and what they stood for when they tried to terminate your conditions of employment.

That moment in fire service history clearly defined what Mr Rau and his executive leadership team stood for, including their orchestrated attempt to demonise firefighters by being escorted by highly paid body guards/thugs to the Termination Case hearings each day.

Please read the attached witness statement and next time Mr Rau seeks to befriend you,  perhaps you can ask him whether he still stands by his evidence in the Termination Case and if not, why not?

If you have any queries I can be contacted on 0419 127 004.
