UFU LITIGATION FINANCE
A Litigation Finance Monitoring Sub-Committee has been established by your Branch Committee of Management (“BCOM”) to assist in the monitoring of legal costs resulting from the excessive level of litigation against the UFU membership by both the MFB and CFA.
At a recent meeting of BCOM dated May 6, 2014 it was resolved to establish a dedicated finance sub-committee to ensure membership confidence in light of the challenges that the union faces in the costs of litigation.
It was resolved the committee shall consist of the four BCOM Trustees, an executive member of the BCOM being either the President, Secretary, Vice President or Junior Vice President and a dedicated accountant.
Additional to the above to ensure awareness and transparency, BCOM resolved to invite two delegates from both the MFB and CFA to be part of the Litigation Finance Sub-Committee to ensure that delegates are aware of the ongoing situation of the union.
Your delegates on the committee are:
CFA Qualified Firefighter Dallas Gill
Senior Station Officer Cory Woodyatt
MFB Leading Firefighter Stephen Warnock
Senior Firefighter Peter Bevis
The sub-committee will convene by either a face to face meeting or via teleconference at least once a month.
