To ALL UFU MEMBERS

STATE PARLIAMENTARY INQUIRY INTO FISKVILLE:

UFU MEMBERS STRONGLY

ADVISED TO MAKE

SUBMISSIONS THROUGH THE UFU

CFA ATTEMPT TO CONTROL

SUBMISSIONS

IS A CONFLICT OF INTEREST

All UFU members,  who believe they may have been exposed to the pollution, and/or contaminated soil and/or contaminated water at Fiskville,  are strongly advised to make submissions to the Parliamentary Committee Inquiry through the UFU.

The CFA have written to some employees this week offering to meet with employees “to discuss any matters (the employee) would like to raise” about the employee’s “involvement at Fiskville and the inquiry generally”.

Members will not need to be reminded that the CFA did not notify employees and firefighters that the training ground was contaminated with barrels of toxins and carcinogens buried on site – and denied that the water was contaminated – when the CFA had commissioned repeated reports and test results that proved the water was not fit for the use of training.

It is not in the interests of members to allow the CFA to control the issues or evidence UFU members have of their experiences at Fiskville relevant to the Inquiry.

The CFA has a conflict of interest.

UFU members are strongly advised to complete the attached form (which is repeated below) and return to ufuvic@ufuvic.asn.au.

The UFU will ensure your form and experiences are put before the Parliamentary Inquiry.

The UFU can assist if you need help in making a submission.  For assistance or any further information please contact Wattie Watson on 0419 127 004.

The terms of reference of the Victorian Parliamentary inquiry are:
