UFU SEEK ARBITRATION BY FWC ON 9 DAY FORTNIGHT PROVISION

As members would be aware, a key battle ground in the last EBA dispute was regarding the provision of a 9 day fortnight for MFB Corp and Tech employees.

Along with the issues relating to job security and consultation this was a key claim for members which was successfully achieved in your EBA.

Despite there being a clause which was supposed to provide for a process for employees to genuinely seek a 9 day fortnight, MFB management, in typical MFB management style, have reneged on this agreement and denied legitimate and genuine claims from employees for this entitlement.

This matter has been subject to a dispute before the Commission. In addition the UFU sought to implement a process for approval of applications and proposed a policy to the MFB at the Corporate and Technical Consultative Committee. The MFB completely rejected this policy out of hand and will not engage in a process whatsoever.

As such, the UFU has sought that FWC re-list the matter for arbitration to determine the dispute.

We will update members further regarding this as the matter progresses.
