UFU WELCOMES

NEW CEO TO MFB

The UFU has been reliably informed by the rumour file that the MFB’s new CEO as appointed will be Mr. James Higgins from the Department of Human Services.

We look forward to establishing a cooperative relationship of mutual trust and understanding with the new CEO and in particular we extend an opportunity for the new CEO to meet with your firefighter representatives to explain the life as a firefighter and indeed as an employee of the MFB board.

Firefighting is listed as one of the most dangerous occupations. Additionally it is considered to be the most trusted profession along with Ambulance Officers.

As we understand Mr. Higgins would have firsthand knowledge of the importance of emergency service workers value given his previous employment background.

However we caution employees that as, with all rumours, there may a chance, that this is not substantiated. However, we are hopeful that someone with first hand operational emergency service knowledge/background would indeed form part of the management team of the MFB in particular the CEO.
