Further to bulletins 35 and 36, the UFU can report that a new proposal in relation to concerns regarding fatigue and the ongoing deployment of MFB firefighters at Hazelwood has been agreed to.


ESTA protection action ballot update

Members are advised that the ballot for protected industrial action has been approved with 98% of those that voted approving the action.


UFU appeals Federal Court decision

The UFU has filed an appeal against the Federal Court decision which found the minimum staffing clauses in the CFA UFU Operational Staff Agreement 2010 were invalid and unenforceable due to constitutional reasons.

Members are informed that the UFU has been in constant contact with the MFB, CFA and the State Fire Services Commissioner regarding the ongoing activities at Yallourn- Hazelwood mine fire ground.


UFU seeks discussions re use of NSW firies and trucks

The UFU understands that the CFA is intending to use NSW firefighters and appliances in CFA stations to backfill trucks and crews that have been deployed to fire-grounds such as the Yallourn-Hazelwood mine fire.

ESTA update agreement in principle reached

Today, after approximately 2 years of negotiations and ongoing industrial action by members, the Unions, before the Fair Work Commission at a special Saturday conference, reached in principle agreement on all outstanding matters for the ESTA Operational Employees Enterprise Agreement.
