It is with great sadness that UFU BCOM and Staff notify members that UFU Industrial Officer, Georgie Kimmel, passed away at her home earlier this week.
The UFU encourages members to attend the funeral to pay their respects to Sam, a valued professional firefighter and union delegate.
Members are respectfully reminded that income protection via Protect commences from the date that the UFU Office receives your authorisation form. Therefore, it is important that members complete and return their forms as soon as possible.
As members would recall, the UFU was forced to run this appeal following a last-minute legal tactic by the MFB and CFA in the original case claiming that Commissioner Wilson did not have jurisdiction.
The UFU is pleased to announce that today the Fair Work Commission issued an Order securing income protection allowance of $48 a week that will be paid as a reimbursement by the employer for all classifications in the CFA/UFU Operational Staff Agreement 2010 and MFB/UFU Operational Staff Agreement 2010.
The UFU has also obtained written commitments from Government, MFB and CFA for employees covered by the CFA/UFU Managers Community Safety Enterprise Agreement 2005 (2009 Extended and Varied Version) and MFB/UFU Assistant Chief Officers Agreement 2010, also providing for the allowance that is paid as a reimbursement.
This rally is for past workers, current workers and future workers. Join us next Tuesday to send a message to the government and let them know that UFU members will fight for a fair system for all workers and unionists in Australia.
